Back home from seeing The Wall
It was fucking magnificent, to say the least. The greatest show I
have ever seenwill ever see. When “In The Flesh?” opened and the pyrotechnics burst, with a staggering effect on my heart I leapt out of my seat in shock. I could feel the heat of them on my face. It was glorious.
And then Roger came out. He stood there, less than 10 meters away from me. I was just fucking stunned, the entire time. I swear he smiled at me at least once or twice :’)
The best part was, just before “Mother”, he quietly came onstage alone. Someone yelled “I LOVE YOU ROGER”, and he just chuckled “Oh I love you too, sweetheart.” I think it was a man, too. Ugh, I died a little inside. My only regret is that I didn’t have the balls to like, stand up and say something him too. He was pretty good with responding to outbursts from the audience.
He was to perform “Mother” with a recording of himself performing it in 1980. So then he said, “I wasn’t always the most pleasant guy… At the risk of sounding completely narcissistic, I’ll say now, please bear with me and the young, fucked up Roger.” I love how Roger owns up to his infamous ego, and can laugh at it.
And then the solo kicked my ass.
Then the “Comfortably Numb” solos kicked my ass twice as hard.
So those two songs were definitely highlights. And other personal favourites like “What Shall We Do Now?” and “Run Like Hell”.
All in all, it was only the greatest event of my life, ever. NBD. I just fucking love you, Roger Waters.
